I actually have to call tomorrow and talk to them about taking some time to make my decision. I didn't stay on the phone very long with the salesman, and he emailed me the packages they were offering. There is no mention of a deadline in the email.Eddiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01959325290876899049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-37965562347384059972011-02-24T23:50:44.422-06:002011-02-24T23:50:44.422-06:00I want to say I'm surprised that they called E...I want to say I'm surprised that they called Eddie, but I'm really not. From my experiences, the wait list is run like shit. (Remember kids, you get what you pay for.) Where else would #7500 and #10xxx get the call before #5368?

Eddie, what did they offer you? Bleachers only? The last number I know of to be offered anything more than Bleachers was somewhere right around #4000. If you got offered actual seats of any kind, you lucked out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-30897685804570573082011-02-24T23:26:41.491-06:002011-02-24T23:26:41.491-06:00Are you going to purchase, Eddie? And as you noted, the only option I have is a full season package.Eddiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01959325290876899049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-75910416434458761452011-02-24T22:32:51.822-06:002011-02-24T22:32:51.822-06:00It would be nice if they'd make the figures pu...It would be nice if they'd make the figures public to prove it. We all know about the financial issues the Pirates faced, lets see the Cubs books too. Actually, I'd like to see the renewal of season tickets, and if they scaled back, maintained, or increased in the number of season tickets offered. The change if season tickets offered can affect the percent to benefit the positive.

I'm scared to think if Pujols actually hits the free agent market and Hendry put an offer in front of him, i.e. 10 years 350 million, no-trade. That's the type of offer he's given out in the past under Tribune regime, why am I to think that is going to change when they want someone. If Pujols is an idiot and decides to leave St. Louis and he did come to the Cubs it would handcuff the organization for his entire tenure. Need proof, i.e. Soriano, Zambrano, Fukudome, Bradley/Silva. I'd like to have Pujols in a Cubs uniform, but I'm not a fool to give him a 10 yr contract and tie up 30 million a year on one player who's stats are soon to decline when he gets to be 34-35 yrs of age. If we can't groom our talent then we need to bring in new scouts that can judge talent better and bring in that talent and new people to teach them.Cubs Bloghttp://www.autographsigning.net/26th-man-blog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-30765383412135207602011-02-24T22:27:39.881-06:002011-02-24T22:27:39.881-06:00Over half the season ticket holders that I persona...Over half the season ticket holders that I personally knew from last season (and that includes you, Tim) did not renew this year. I don't care what the Cubs are saying, according to my figures, that's a renewal rate of under 50%.

Not sure what the rate will be next year, but this is my last season (unless I lose my mind next November). You can already guarantee there will be at least one more person that will be taken off that waiting list in 2012.Doc Blumehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15912106752281493012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-9556356816467962312011-02-24T20:12:18.915-06:002011-02-24T20:12:18.915-06:00I don't mind the spin and I fully realize the ...I don't mind the spin and I fully realize the numbers here can be distorted. Maybe the Cubs have as many season ticket holders, but the better question is how many season ticket holders gave them up and how does that compare to past seasons? Until I see those numbers and apparently they won't share them, I can only reach a conclusion based on common sense. That conclusion is that they lost more season tickets this year than in the recent 5 to 10 seasons (at least). Whether or not they were replaced is of little interest to me. They had a waiting list, right? How long is the waiting list now? Is there even one? If season tickets are just fine this year, are they trying to say they aren't the least bit concerned of the numbers dropping in future years? I'm not naive enough to believe that.

so they need to tell me how the turnover this year compares to past years. Until then, well, I think Tim's previous conclusion was right on. This information doesn't change that.mb21http://www.anothercubsblog.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-51985938626895093062011-02-24T19:13:35.975-06:002011-02-24T19:13:35.975-06:00I get that they HAVE to spin things to a degree. ...I get that they HAVE to spin things to a degree. That is what marketing and PR departments do. But what bugs me is that with the Cubs it is all spin and no substance.

Sell the ivy, sell the scoreboard, sell the sun and beer and scantily clad women. What the hell? It has worked in the past.

But the coat of paint Zell slapped on this crappy house in order to sell it is flaking off and fading and everyone can see it's a shitty house, but they are still going around talking about it like it is a brand new luxury house that we should pay exhorbitant prices to visit. Instead of just fixing the damn house and making it something we want to visit.Aisle 424http://424tales.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-54551612498353452042011-02-24T19:04:13.520-06:002011-02-24T19:04:13.520-06:00I had 4 seats since 2004. Nobody wanted them, even for free. Yet the Cubs still raised prices. That was the last straw.

Keep promoting your 100K person waiting list. Most of those people are not serious. Half are probably college kids with no income hoping to get them in 20-years or people who signed up after the '03 season when the buzz was great.

Those who are serious will find out pretty fast that being a STH is a lot less glamourous than they think.

There's lots of better things to spend almost $17K. I'll watch the games on TV and if they do make the playoffs/World Series, I'll spend my 17K on that.Mnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-20287040391406775772011-02-24T18:54:58.058-06:002011-02-24T18:54:58.058-06:00Gotta love the spin. DUH. Of course there are more accounts now. What they fail to mention is that their cancellation rate is much higher than normal, and many current holders have cut the number of tickets in their plans.

Oh, and maybe they should comment on how they blew through over 10,000 names on the wait list this year. That should alert them to the fact that almost no one is willing to pay $4k per ticket to sit on a bench 450 ft away.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-250683060520895629.post-17485083802962180652011-02-24T18:40:23.090-06:002011-02-24T18:40:23.090-06:00Sometimes it's hard to be a Cubs fan.Sometimes it's hard to be a Cubs fan.Kenhttp://www.google.comnoreply@blogger.com
